PROJECTS
In order to realize its objectives, PATROL will undertake the following core programmes either independently or in partnership with other like-minded organizationsThe Legislative Democracy Project

Under this project Patrol-Africa seeks to advance good governance and democratic integrity across the continent by strengthening the capacity, responsiveness, and accountability of both national and regional parliaments.
To achieve this, Patrol-Africa equips parliamentarians with the technical expertise needed for effective lawmaking and oversight, while simultaneously fostering open governance. In addition, the project empowers civil society organizations and drives inclusive civic education—with a targeted focus on youth—to amplify citizen participation, deepen democratic engagement, and ensure institutions remain accountable to the public they serve.
Transparency, Accountability and Governance Project

The PATROL Transparency, Accountability and Governance (TAG) Project is aimed at implementing projects that promote good governance, improve African national governments accountability and transparency, increase capacity of Africa’s anti-corruption institutions at the national and regional level, and strengthen civil society organizations’ capacity to conduct oversight activities.
The goal of the project is to bring about change in knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding ethical national government administration, and to instill a new culture of transparency, accountability, and good governance across Africa. Through educating, monitoring, and building alliances between national officials and regional leaders, PATROL will chart a course for change toward more responsive, more accountable governments in Africa.
Capacity-Building and Training Project

In addition to the existing transparency and rule of law mechanisms and institutions in Africa, many public servants, lawyers, NGOs and members of the public do not have the awareness and skills to challenge policies and government action that go against the tenets of transparency and rule of law in the continent. Furthermore, most actors in the legal field are either not aware or simply do not know how to use and enforce existing transparency and rule of law frameworks.
PATROL shall train and assist in capacity building of national institutions and civil society as well as the legal fraternity on the rule of law, transparency and public participation in governance and the provisions and scope of the various legal instruments providing for transparency, the rule of law and public participation in governance. In this regard, PATROL shall endeavor to organize current country specific Transparency and Rule of Law workshops for diverse civil society actors aiming at addressing key issues arising at the national and continental levels on Transparency and Rule of Law in African governments.
PATROL endeavors to undertake programmes which mainly provide two sorts of support:
- Assistance to judicial systems and to the legal profession, based on training, support for the reform of professional legal education, and exchanges between practitioners in the region;
- Advisory services and regional exchanges in the field of legislation.
Sustainable Development Project

Sustainable Development Project
PATROL also takes part in the promotion and facilitation of sustainable development programs and projects. In particular, PATROL supports and carries out research especially at national level, to identify development problems and make suggestions on how to solve them in close collaboration with development partners and stakeholders while ensuring adherence to the tenets of transparency and the rule of law.
To ensure effective and equitable participation by all in the development process and to guarantee transparency and the rule of law, PATROL carries out education and training programs with national institutions and civic society members to conduct management and capacity building programs with affiliated groups.
