Press Release, September 27, 2025.

PATROL-AFRICA extends warm congratulations to the people of Malawi for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the democratic process and on the democratic and peaceful manner in which they changed their government, which has been in power for the last five years. Congratulations to the Democratic Progressive Party, under the leadership of the President Elect, HE. Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, for the well run campaign and victory in the just concluded elections. This victory belongs to the Malawian people.

PATROL-AFRICA, also commends the outgoing President H.E Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party who accepted the will of the Malawian people. The peaceful transfer of power, demontsrates not only the commitment of political leadership but also the determination of the Malawian people to the ideals and respect for constitutionalism and the rule of law in conformity with the Constitution of Malawi and other international and regional obligations, that Malawi has accepted to be bound.

We note with satisfaction, the role and ability of the Malawi Electoral Commission, to independently organize, manage and ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in the country. The role played by MEC validates, once again, the indispensable constitutional mandate and contribution of strong and independent institutions in upholding citizens confidence in electoral systems and processes. This is a remarkable example that, should be fully emulated by other electoral bodies on the continent.

Once again, PATROL-AFRICA, is determined and looks forward to working closely and supporting the incoming leadership of Malawi under the President Elect and the Malawian people, as they continue their quest to strengthen transparency and rule of law, and democracy in the country.
