PATROL-AFRICA welcomes another peaceful change of government

Nov 12, 2024 | Press releases

PATROL-AFRICA congratulates the people of Mauritius, political parties, and political leaders for the peaceful manner in which they conducted the National Assembly elections on November 10 that has seen the opposition alliance emerge as the winner.

The emphatic victory of the Alliance for Change, led by former Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, is a welcome sign that the continent is moving in the right direction when it comes to democratic elections and constitutional change of Governments.

We specially commend outgoing Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and his Militant Socialist Movement coalition for conceding defeat before the final results were officially announced when it became clear that the Alliance for Change was heading for victory – a sign of political maturity.

The outcome of the election and peaceful political transition confirms the political stability in Mauritius that easily makes it one of the foremost countries in Africa for foreign direct investment and social economic development.

PATROL-AFRICA hopes that the will of the people, resulting in the wind of change blowing across the political landscape of the continent will help bring peace and prosperity to the continent and its populace.

However, we must continue to strive to entrench the democratic process and rule of law in Africa.
